Maps of the places you imagined
Prepare the ruined observatory, crowded spaceport or village hiding a terrible secret that your adventure needs. Bring tactical maps, portraits and handouts into the same creative partnership.
Your campaign knowledge brought together
Build on established people, places and consequences. Your Vunxa helps recover the useful details and turn your latest ideas into material for the next game.

Specialist methods for your game

More than a list of ideas.
Material you can run.

A vivid premise is a beginning. Your Vunxa helps turn it into connected situations, practical notes and playable spaces, drawing on your world and the kind of game your group enjoys.

Ask for a little inspiration or develop the whole adventure together. Your creative decisions and your place behind the GM screen stay yours.

A world that stays yours

Accepted lore becomes useful campaign knowledge. Possibilities stay provisional, and the distinction between GM secrets and player knowledge shapes what gets shared.

Adventures prepared for player freedom

Connected locations, discoverable clues, believable motives and consequences give you something to respond with when the party takes an unexpected route.

Maps built for actual play

Tactical layouts establish walls, passages, doors and scale before atmospheric artwork is produced and checked. The encounter space has a structure you can edit.

A worldbuilding book with notes for a fantasy setting

Begin with your imagination

Build a world worth returning to.

Bring your campaign notes or start talking about a world you would love to explore. Your Vunxa helps develop its places, people and tensions, keeping accepted lore together as the setting grows.

  • Explore a faction’s ambitions, a city’s secrets or the history behind a ruined kingdom.
  • Develop characters with motives, relationships and distinctive voices that fit your world.
  • You decide what becomes true. Unchosen ideas stay possibilities, and GM secrets stay separate from player-facing material.

Ready for the next session

Turn your world into an adventure.

Prepare a complete one-shot, an adventure for your ongoing campaign or a concise session sheet. Start with a spark, develop a purchased module or build on the choices your players made last week. No worldbuilding project is required.

  • Shape encounters, locations, clues and rewards around the group, tone and time you have.
  • See how the adventure holds together: where clues lead, what the factions want and what changes when the party intervenes or walks away.
  • Prepare flexible situations and useful GM notes, so an unexpected choice opens possibilities instead of breaking the plot.

Give the imagination somewhere to land

Show them the places you imagined.

Explore the geography of a region, map a settlement or build a tactical encounter space. Your Vunxa can also illustrate a recurring character, an unsettling discovery or a scene you want your players to see.

  • Plan the layout, scale, walls and passages of a battlemap before creating its atmosphere.
  • Develop portraits and locations from your established descriptions and visual references.
  • Prepare maps for the included Table, with editable layouts and portable exports for supported tabletop workflows. Quality maps take preparation; you can refine them together.
A shared virtual tabletop with map, tokens and dice

Your group, together

Bring everyone to the Table.

Your tabletop, your way. Already have a virtual tabletop you love? Keep using it. Vunxa’s own Table is optional and included with your RPG specialty at no extra subscription cost.

  • Start with a map and a few tokens. Add adventure documents, character sheets and lighting whenever they help your game.
  • Invite distant friends to join in their browsers, move their tokens and roll shared dice. Choose which layers and documents players can see.
  • At the same table, show the map on a separate screen. Lay a suitable display flat and use physical miniatures on top.
  • Keep using other tools you enjoy. Your Vunxa can help with preparation and campaign material even when you play elsewhere.
Game Master notes for responding to an unexpected turn in the adventure

When the players surprise you

Keep help beside you during play.

The party befriends the villain, ignores the obvious entrance or asks the one question you did not prepare. Discuss the next move with a companion that can draw on your campaign records and the situation you describe.

  • Recover a forgotten detail or work out how an NPC might respond.
  • Invent a complication, a creature or a new challenge that belongs in the setting.
  • Consult available rules references and prepare extra material as needed. You make the ruling and keep control of the game.

After the session. Before the next.

After the game, the world keeps moving.

The rescued prisoner, the broken promise, the newly hostile faction: tell your Vunxa what happened. Record the discoveries and unexpected choices, then explore what they change. Prepare the next session from the campaign your players are actually creating.

  • Turn reported events into useful session notes and updates to your established campaign lore.
  • Follow unresolved clues, changed relationships and the reactions of factions and characters.
  • Bring the consequences into your next adventure. Your Vunxa can draw on campaign records and available Table state; tell it about the decisions made aloud that you want recorded.

Included virtual tabletop

Set the scene.
Let the players explore.

Start simply, or build a connected adventure workspace around your group. The optional Table is included at no extra subscription cost; keep your existing virtual tabletop if you prefer. Choose the documents and layers players see, and add the features that serve your game.

A beach battlemap with character tokens on a square grid
Reveal the world in layers
Reorder layers and adjust their opacity. Keep GM reference layers separate from player views, or blend supplied day and night artwork.
Draw walls as exploration unfolds
Add vision walls and openings during play, including on your own imported maps. Generated battlemap packages can include prepared walls.
Use darkness when it adds something
Optional dynamic line of sight, fog of war, explored-area memory, character darkvision and coloured or flickering lights.
Grids and movement
Square or hex grids, snapping and movement-distance indicators, with measurement shapes to help resolve the action.
A cave encounter map with linked adventure notes beside it
Keep the adventure connected
Link map locations to scenes, notes and relevant PDF pages. Keep the explanation a click away from the place it describes.
Put your books beside the action
Import PDFs, search text-based pages and follow available internal links and bookmarks. Bring rulebooks, adventures and handouts together.
Bring characters into the scene
Ask your Vunxa to create a PC or NPC stat document and place its portrait token on the Table. Link tokens to character information, use custom fields or import suitable fillable PDF sheets.
A regional hex map with linked locations across mountains, forests and coastline
Roll from the material you use
Clickable dice formulas in documents and on maps, sheet-linked values and shared animated 3D dice.
Arrange your own GM screen
Use separate browser tabs across your screens: rules and notes beside you, a map or atmospheric scene for the group.
Bring your maps
Import Universal VTT maps with supported wall and lighting data, or use a map image and add what your game needs.

Across worlds and systems

Your game, your rules.

Run Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, Alien RPG or another system. Bring the rules and edition you use, along with your house rules.

Dungeons & Dragons has dedicated, edition-aware assistance and the bundled open rules for the revised 2024 game (SRD 5.2.1). Ask your Vunxa to import your D&D Beyond characters into the Table.

Don’t Panic! has dedicated support and its full illustrated manual included. For other games, bring your own books or use legitimately available references, with your chosen edition and house rules. Worldbuilding, preparation, artwork and the Table work across systems.

A world of your own

Your world and work stay yours.

We help you set up optional private backups in an account you own. Keep an independent copy of your campaign material and download your work, even if you leave Vunxa.

Carlos, founder of Vunxa, with a playful elven transformation of his portrait

From the founder

Built for his own party of adventurers.

Carlos Serna, Vunxa’s founder, has been playing role-playing games and Game Mastering since he was a teenager, from Dungeons & Dragons to other systems. He particularly enjoys the horror of Alien RPG and the mysteries of Call of Cthulhu.

He also created Don’t Panic!, his own role-playing system, which has dedicated support in Vunxa RPG.

He developed Vunxa RPG for his own group’s entertainment: to make their regular games more imaginative and quicker to prepare, with more of the world they wanted to explore brought to life.

Now that same creative partnership is available for your group. The elven ears are optional.
